Objective: To
create an international distribution strategy for an
entrepreneurial toy manufacturer.
Outputs: Assessed
product potential and distribution channels in key international
markets. Identified regional resellers capable of importing,
distributing and merchandising product. Contacted prospects
and conducted initial meetings and product demonstrations.
Provided manufacturer with forecasts and customer feedback.
Results: Obtained
$40,000 in initial orders from preliminary trade show
activity and qualified fifteen customers to launch the
product line in key regional markets. |

Project:
Automated Packaging Equipment
Objective: To
define a market for automated packaging equipment in
a specific industry sector.
Outputs: Interviews
with industry decision makers produced a set of criteria
for identifying potential new clients. Product, industry
and competitive data were gathered through in-person
and telephone interviews, desk research and trade show
attendance. This directly-obtained research produced
a thumbnail overview of the main competitors, niche
market opportunities and industry trends.
Results: Client
quickly became familiar with the industry landscape
and obtained an accurate customer profile that is being
used to identify key customers throughout North America. |

Project:
Product for Consumer and Commercial Landscaping
Objective: To explore
avenues of distribution for an imported product for consumer
and commercial landscaping and determine market potential
for sustainable business.
Outputs: A travel itinerary,
consisting of meetings and retail store visits, was developed
for the president, sales director and business development
manager of an established European company. Desk research
and telephone interviews led to face-to-face meetings with
pre-qualified companies. The appointments included discussions
with sales rep organizations, importers and wholesalers, landscape
contractors and suppliers, contract warehouse facilities and
retail garden centers. The visit was supplemented with desk
research on the competitive environment and information on
trade events and publications.
Results: Client obtained
first-hand market data from relevant sources and a purchase
order for a container-load of product. |
Project:
Trade Mission
Objective: To enhance
a trade mission to a national, industry-specific, trade conference
with visits to ‘best practice’ sites.
Outputs: Determined
each participant’s core business and areas of interest.
Researched and identified organizations and companies in the
conference city that were representative of ‘best practice’
locations for the region, or were utilizing a technology or
process of interest to participants in the mission. Planned
a two-day itinerary of area companies and organizations. Arranged
for local transportation and accompanied the mission to the
site visits.
Results: The trade
mission participants were afforded the opportunity to connect
the concepts and technologies presented at the conference
with practical applications and discuss strategies and techniques
with actual implementers. |
